Pinot Noir, Riesling, Chardonnay and Sauvignon are planted on the gravelly clay soils in the Moutere area at the top of New Zealand's South Island. We are small, family owned and sell to about 16 distributors world wide who are equally dedicated. We make wine with texture, balance and elegance. We celebrate the difference of each vintage.
We looked at screwcaps many years ago as we make wine to last. We had lost too many bottles to early oxidation and cork taint. As a founding member of New Zealand screwcap initiative we have no regrets and enjoy knowing the bottle opened in Copenhagen or New York is the same as the one we open over dinner.
Our agents have been generally supportive (although we lost a lovely agent in Paris because although he thought we were making the right move we couldn't see his restaurants even considering a screwcap bottle) and in turn restaurants like Charlie Trotter in Chicago, Gordon Ramsay in Chelsea and Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud in Ireland all stock screwcapped Neudorf wine. |
